BIRDSEYE VIEW POSTS

Since 2012 on the now retired Weather Underground blogs, I have been posting annotated "birdseye view" charts of the Atlantic basin, with a detailed explanation and forecasting that references the chart. From there you may know me as "NCHurricane2009." While I now do these "birdseye view" posts here, I will continue to do comments at Yale Climate Connections via Disqus where the former Weather Underground community has moved to. Feel free to reply to me there, at my Disqus feed at this link, or via e-mail at IOHurricanes@outlook.com

MY 2022 ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASON BIRDSEYE VIEW POST #155A (Special Update)

*******Note that forecast and outlooks in this post are NOT the official forecast from the National Hurricane Center (NHC). They are my own detailed views on the Atlantic tropics based on current observations and latest computer model runs. As such do not make decisions based on my posts...consult news media...watches and warnings from your local weather office...and any evacuation orders issued by local governments to make the most informed and best decisions. Visit the NHC website hurricanes.gov (hurricanes dot gov) for the latest watches/warnings and official forecasts on active tropical cyclones.**********

...SATURDAY NOVEMBER 12 2022 7:03 PM EDT...

Satellite image of a merged frontal low pressure area heading into Atlantic Canada from the northeastern United States... consolidating from a combination of Nicole's remnants and a frontal low that was over the Great Lakes region Friday night (satellite image taken at 1800Z today):

Nicole's remnant low pressure area over the eastern United States has recently merged with a frontal low that was over the Great Lakes region yesterday night (both low pressure areas are being supported by the eastern divergence zone of an amplified upper trough incoming from the central United States). As the merged frontal low accelerates eastward across Atlantic Canada tonight (New Brunswick... Nova Scotia... Prince Edward Island... southeastern Quebec... and Newfoundland)... the assoicated gusty winds and coastal surf will no longer be directly associated with Nicole since this system is a merger between Nicole and another system. Prior to the merger... Nicole produced gusty winds approaching 40 mph across the coastal northeastern United States while gusts further inland struggled to exceed 30 mph (see sample of wind reports listed below).

The following are peak reports of wind at National Weather Service stations across the northeastern United States listed in mph. Due to the number of wind reports... called out the region of the state for each location (northeast... southeast... etc.):
