MY SPECIAL MESSAGES (TUESDAY JUNE 6 2023 12:15 AM EDT)

  • A frontal cyclone has formed just southeast of the Azores with the support of an upper vortex moving into the region, and is being monitored for acquisition of tropical characteristics. A second frontal cyclone is forecast to form toward the east-northeast by Wednesday while absorbing the current one near the Azores. Regardless of whether or not the feature near the Azores acquires tropical characteristics, the sprawling circulation of both frontal cyclones will bring coastal surf, gusty winds, and periods of heavy rainfall to the Canary Islands and Azores through Wednesday. Coastal surf is also expected on the west coasts of Portugal and Spain. See the latest birdseye view post published below for more information.

  • As the author of infohurricanes.com, I have also been monitoring the progress of the worldwide outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. The COVID-19 page has not been updated over the several months. The COVID-19 page will be updated soon to review how the virus has progressed in 2021 and 2022, in the meantime it is important to keep up with the latest vaccinations and boosters to suppress the spread and severity of the virus.

BIRDSEYE VIEW POSTS

Since 2012 on the now retired Weather Underground blogs, I have been posting annotated "birdseye view" charts of the Atlantic basin, with a detailed explanation and forecasting that references the chart. From there you may know me as "NCHurricane2009." While I now do these "birdseye view" posts here, I will continue to do comments at Yale Climate Connections via Disqus where the former Weather Underground community has moved to. Feel free to reply to me there, at my Disqus feed at this link, or via e-mail at IOHurricanes@outlook.com
