MY SPECIAL MESSAGES (TUESDAY AUGUST 16 2022 9:12 PM EDT)

  • See the latest birdseye view post published below for more on the following, and for information regarding current activity across the Atlantic tropics.

  • A tropical disturbance has developed over parts of Central America and western Caribbean Sea, consisting of a surface tropical wave of low pressure interacting with a favorable expanding upper ridge. Regardless of tropical cyclone formation or not, the following is the expected timing of possible heavy rainfall with isolated flash flooding:

    • Over the next day or so: Belize, northern Guatemala and the Mexican province of Campeche

    • Friday evening through the weekend: the Mexican provinces of northern Veracruz and Tamaulipas

  • As the author of infohurricanes.com, I have also been monitoring the progress of the worldwide outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. The COVID-19 page has not been updated over the several months. The COVID-19 page will be updated soon to review how the virus has progressed in 2021 and this year, in the meantime it will be up to us to control the pandemic by becoming vaccinated and boosted.

BIRDSEYE VIEW POSTS

Since 2012 on the now retired Weather Underground blogs, I have been posting annotated "birdseye view" charts of the Atlantic basin, with a detailed explanation and forecasting that references the chart. From there you may know me as "NCHurricane2009." While I now do these "birdseye view" posts here, I will continue to do comments at Yale Climate Connections via Disqus where the former Weather Underground community has moved to. Feel free to reply to me there, at my Disqus feed at this link, or via e-mail at IOHurricanes@outlook.com
